So...um, some sad news. I don't think Mastodon is for me. The highly progressive atmosphere, tone, and community don't align with me. No one really seems to listen or even talk about the "why" behind things.
With my disappointment--gosh, the Federated timeline is so clever--it seems I'll have to deactivate my Mastodon and Gab (yeah, I made one, didn't work, go fucking figure). I'm keeping this around as a peek into SEE*R and my own personal thoughts, but for now...arrivederci.
Does anyone have advice about how to take a domain back from my registrar because of a trademark complain that is in a class unrelated to my site’s business?

Hashtagging toots: a guide
Hashtags are a must. But where should they be placed? Here are a couple of solutions.
1. When making self-toots, leave your hashtags at the very top of your toot (and not in the CW).
2. When responding to another toot, leave your hashtags at the very bottom of your toot.
Yes, you can space your hashtags line away from the actual toot.
@mariberg You are so funny. You went on a monologue for a while on the instance. I'll see if I can hook this up better so that more people can see your toots. In the mean time, You might need to reply toots/get them to follow you so that they can see your toots. It's quite a friendly community of people who follow each other.
Here's a flow chart of how the fediverse works.
You don't ever see all of the fediverse from one instance. The vast majority of what you see is people followed by people on your instance.
Hashtag searches are limited to that, too.
So if you want to make your bit of the fediverse good, you have to:
1) Boost cool stuff to all your followers on other instances, especially if they contain hashtags;
2) Use hashtags.
